Alessio Nanni - Pianist and Composer

Alessio Nanni was born on October 15, 1977 in Rome, Italy. His artistic foundation is built upon a rigorous classical training as a concert pianist, studying piano performance at the Conservatory “S. Cecilia” in Rome and at the prestigious “Mozarteum” in Salzburg, Austria.
In 2002, after graduating with top honours, Alessio won the first prize at the International Piano Competition “Maria Giubilei”, Italy.

This deep immersion in European classical tradition became the bedrock for his evolution into a contemporary electroacoustic composer. In 2004, he expanded his artistic vision by studying composition and contemporary music at the ‘Music and New Technology’ Conservatory ‘L. Cherubini’ in Florence (Italy), earning a master’s degree in composition and electronic music with top honours in 2009.

Since completing his studies, Alessio has collaborated extensively with musicians, painters, photographers, visual artists, and filmmakers, maintaining an active path in visual-acoustic research alongside a robust performing career, giving concerts across Europe and the USA. In 2009, he began producing independently, recording classical repertoire while simultaneously composing and producing music for media and art installations/performance, before gradually devoting his focus almost exclusively to scoring for film.

This dual identity, classical concert pianist and electroacoustic composer, is not merely biographical; it is the creative engine that drives his work. The discipline, emotional depth, and structural mastery of classical performance merge seamlessly with cutting-edge technology to create scores that resonate on both intellectual and visceral levels.

His recordings of classical piano works have found audiences beyond the concert hall, reaching millions of viewers on YouTube and finding their way into numerous films and documentaries. This organic crossover reflects a deliberate artistic intention: not to abandon the classical tradition, but to absorb its depth and stratification while building a bridge between centuries-old musical literature and contemporary film scoring evolution.

Alessio Nanni has composed and produced original scores for films, documentaries, TV series, TV shows, trailer productions, recording labels, fashion brands, shorts, video games, and art installations. Among his most recent projects are original scores for: Creed, The Ring, Paranormal Activity, Mad Max Fury Road, Beat Shazam, Making It, Temptation Island, Claim to Fame, Cannonball, The Queens of Motorsport, Steve Harvey’s Funderdome, Terminator, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Assassin’s Creed III, Billion Dollar Buyer, The Smurfs, Killing Fields, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, The Rise of Tomb Raider, Wraith: The Oblivion, and Ouija.

His original trailer score for The Evil Within was nominated as Best Sound Design of the Year at the San Francisco GMA Awards in 2015.

In a testament to his standing within the industry, Alessio Nanni co-composed with legendary composer Hans Zimmer on the Emmy-nominated feature documentary ‘Brave Miss World’, directed by Cecilia Peck.

The completely bespoke music catalog composed and produced by Alessio Nanni is currently featured in over 100 productions around the world. His creative mission remains unwavering: to merge the tradition of European-style classical music and instrumentation with the most advanced technology applied to computer music production, delivering the strongest emotional impact possible in a clear and unique tailored form of composition.
